My dearly respected fellow citizens,
Today, I wish to share with you a message of profound significance.
1. Today, the military junta, using the occasion of National Victory Day, released some political prisoners who had been unjustly detained. I wish to express my heartfelt joy and solidarity with those who have now regained their freedom from various prisons. However, I must also remind everyone that even at this very moment, our elected President U Win Myint, our State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, along with thousands of our blood-brothers and sisters — the heroes of the Spring Revolution — remain unjustly imprisoned in the junta’s detention camps. They continue to be tortured, persecuted, and in many cases are forced to sacrifice their lives. Day after day, countless others are still being arbitrarily arrested.
2. At first glance, the military council's release of political prisoners may appear to be an act of compassion. But when we look deeper, it becomes clear that such actions are nothing more than a tactic for their own survival. The truth is undeniable: these releases happen only because of the immense pressure exerted by the people and by the international community. Without that pressure, the junta would never have chosen to free those unjustly imprisoned.
3. Those who have been released today are individuals who stood firm for justice. From the very beginning, they never should have been imprisoned in the first place. The military junta unjustly detained innocent people, fabricated false charges against them, and then forced one-sided rulings through courts that operate under its control.
4. Although the military junta has released some political prisoners, at the same time it continues to brutally arrest and kill innocent civilians across the country, using overwhelming force, military aircraft, and indiscriminate bombings on a daily basis. I believe that not only the people of Myanmar but also the international community clearly see and understand these ongoing atrocities. The junta is trying to use a “fire in one hand, water in the other” strategy—pretending to show compassion while at the same time committing relentless brutality. It is important to remain vigilant and recognize this for what it is.
5. The recent release of some unjustly detained political prisoners is not an act of goodwill by the junta, but the fruit of the unrelenting struggle and resilience of our people over nearly two years of the Spring Revolution. It is the outcome of the strength and determination shown by citizens who have never ceased resisting oppression. However, we must remember that this is not yet the end of our journey. We have not reached the final destination that our people have set their sights on. We must continue pressing forward, without losing sight of the ultimate goal. I call upon everyone to hold firm to this reminder and to keep marching ahead with determination.
6. We must never allow ourselves to forget the lessons of our nation’s past. History has shown us time and again how successive military dictatorships have deceived, manipulated, and brutalized the people—sometimes offering false promises, sometimes resorting to insults and violence. Today, the junta continues in exactly the same manner: feigning concessions while, in reality, sacrificing the lives of innocent citizens to preserve its own grip on power. This is nothing more than striking with a stick in one hand while luring with a sweet in the other. Our people must reflect deeply on this pattern and remain vigilant against such deceptions.
7. I also earnestly call upon the international community to continue applying pressure on the military junta until every single unjustly detained leader and citizen in prisons across the country is released without exception.
My dearly respected fellow citizens,
8. Let me reaffirm my pledge, together with the National Unity Government, that we will continue this struggle until the dictatorship is completely dismantled. At the same time, I want to remind everyone that every single action counts: even one Like or one Share on social media carries immense weight, amplifying the will of the people until it reaches the international community. Therefore, I urge all citizens to use every platform and every opportunity available to express your rejection of tyranny. I have full confidence in the power of our people. What began as a movement from “zero” has already advanced far along the road to victory. That is why, in the journey ahead, I call upon all of us to continue marching forward—resolute, steadfast, and united—until we reach our final goal.
Revolution Must Prevail!
