Opening Remarks by Acting President Duwa Lashi La, National Unity Government of Myanmar, at the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the Mandalay Region People\u2019s Revolutionary Forces Joint Coordination Platform\n2 September 2025<\/p>\n
I would like to extend my warm greetings to all those attending today\u2019s opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Mandalay Region People\u2019s Revolutionary Forces Joint Coordination Platform. In particular, I welcome the Union Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, the Chairperson of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the Chairperson of the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), the Chairperson of the Ta\u2019ang Land Council (TLC), Representatives from the National League for Democracy, the Chairperson of the Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS), Delegates from the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC),and all representatives and responsible members from the various revolutionary forces who have joined this important ceremony today.<\/p>\n
First of all, I would like to warmly welcome the successful convening of today\u2019s ceremony. This gathering is intended to strengthen public participation and representation, as it is organized for the preliminary endorsement of the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program (Draft) prepared by the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program Drafting and Coordination Committee. I understand that, through the establishment of the Mandalay Region People\u2019s Revolutionary Forces Joint Coordination Platform, revolutionary forces in the region have come together for this first meeting to engage in meaningful discussion and coordination. This is a good, just, and rightful cause, and therefore I would like to once again extend my heartfelt congratulations and warm welcome to this important occasion.<\/p>\n
I believe that the revolutionary forces in the Mandalay Region are carrying out their struggle through people\u2019s power in ways that are ever broader in legitimacy and ever stronger in foundation. Since the very beginning of preparing the interim programs, Mandalay Region forces have maintained commendable practices of transparency and accountability to the people. Now, with the preliminary endorsement of the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program (Draft) being formally notified to the National Unity Government, I wish to express our particular satisfaction and appreciation.<\/p>\n
When the Mandalay Region forces had completed their draft interim program, they also met and exchanged views with the National Unity Government. Through the FSC\u2014the body for cooperation between the Union Government and the States\/Federal Units\u2014constructive recommendations were provided on the interim programs. Similarly, in the case of Sagaing Region, our government, through the FSC, provided discussions and recommendations on its draft interim constitution. Today, we can now say that Sagaing Region\u2019s interim constitution has already been formally adopted. At present, for Magway Region as well, discussions, consultations, and recommendations on interim programs are being continuously carried out.<\/p>\n
Therefore, we believe that in the three major regions of Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway, new government bodies, aligned with their respective federal units, will continue to emerge and take shape. I have full confidence that before long, government institutions in these three regions will be established in accordance with the will of the people. As the National Unity Government, we also want to reaffirm that, guided by federal principles, we will continue our cooperation so that the broader Spring Revolution can flourish and achieve success across the entire country.<\/p>\n
At this opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Mandalay Region People\u2019s Revolutionary Forces Joint Coordination Platform, I would like to conclude with some words of encouragement for our people\u2019s revolution. At this stage of the Spring Revolution, it is of utmost importance that interim governance mechanisms at the regional level be strengthened and consolidated. The interim programs currently being implemented in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway are excellent steps toward building strong and accountable governance systems\u2014transparent, representative of the people, and firmly rooted in legitimacy. Therefore, I urge all of us to continue advancing efforts that foster effective coordination between the central and regional levels, expand inclusive representation of the people, and ensure the systematic emergence of strong and durable governance mechanisms. I also call on all relevant political forces within the Spring Revolution to deepen their cooperation and solidarity, so that unity in action may bring about the best possible outcomes for our revolution.<\/p>\n
