Dear respected citizens and the people of Myanmar,<\/strong><\/p>\n On the New Year\u2019s Day that falls today, 2021 January 1, I wish you, all the people, to be healthy. May all your wishes be fulfilled. I would like to bow and salute those who gave their lives for the revolution last year in 2021 because of the attempted coup. I also would like to thank and comfort those who have been arrested, tortured, and who are running and hiding. I also would like to send my condolences to the people who lost their parents or children or siblings or other relatives or friends in this revolution.<\/p>\n My respected fellow citizens,<\/strong><\/p>\n As you already know, due to the military\u2019s mismanagement and poor administration, Myanmar has become one of the least developed and poorest countries from having once been the richest country in Southeast Asia. Therefore, we now have millions of people and families struggling for their daily meals, children suffering and shivering cold under tents without proper roofs, and elderly people leaving their homes and properties in fear for their lives.<\/p>\n Now, the military council led by Min Aung Hlaing has undertaken extreme violence: They occupy public buildings in towns. They kill, arrest and harass people. They enter villages and burn them down. They break into houses and loot property. They burn innocent civilians alive. That is why the people have to fight to bring down the dictatorship and restore democracy.<\/p>\n All the people have been withstanding and revolting against the military despite its extreme cruelty. The civil servants\u2019 CDM Movement to stop the dictator\u2019s administrative functions, the people\u2019s boycott of military assets and businesses and their denial to pay tax to the junta show the determination and passion of the people for the revolution.<\/p>\n At the same time, the military has been using publicly-funded state media and promotional media and trying to sell propaganda to deceive the people.<\/p>\n Therefore, the people have been launching powerful attacks against the SAC with whatever weapons they have in order to protect their own lives and properties. As a result, the SAC\u2019s security forces no longer feel safe, even in their own neighbourhoods or at their barracks. Those responsible for human right abuses and crime against humanity are aware of the fact that justice is being brought to them by the people. Yes, justice must be served. We will find out who are responsible for committing heinous crimes against the people and will bring them to justice. The nationwide silent strike demonstrates that the junta\u2019s days are numbered. Therefore, I would like to congratulate the people of Myanmar for your participation. The world has also applauded the courage of the Myanmar people.<\/p>\n I would like to inform you that We, as the National Unity Government, and I, as the Acting President of the NUG, have been closely watching the determination, courage and sacrifice of Myanmar people and we are taking leadership from all aspects.<\/p>\n Therefore, the National Unity Government:<\/strong><\/p>\n The National Unity Government has developed and declared important policies and is implementing them, such as: positions on international humanitarian assistance, Policy Statement on the Rohingya people, Guidelines for Responsible Investment, and Sanction Policies.<\/p>\n Respected Ethnic Nationalities,<\/strong><\/p>\n The role of ethnic nationalities in the revolution against the military junta has been critically important. We have seen protests of ethnic people with national costumes across city streets of Yangon and Mandalay and we all have also seen protests across ethnic areas around the country. When the revolution shifted from city streets to armed resistance, you welcomed and provided refuge to the CDMs and resistant groups who feared arrest from the military. You also provide military training to Gen-Z to bring down the military, providing arms to them to lay a foundation for the revolution. These are the sacrifices of ethnic nationalities.<\/p>\n The National Unity Government has adopted a political road map to establish a people centered federal democratic system that guarantees equal rights, freedom and self-determination, and rule of law in accordance with the policies adopted by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).<\/p>\n The Nation Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) is also planning to host a People\u2019s Assembly which is the most inclusive political dialogue platform in Myanmar history. It is also a platform where all the stakeholders across the country, including the EAOs, altogether coordinate, develop and approve the Federal Democratic Charter.<\/p>\n We have also achieved agreements between important stakeholders of the country to develop a constitution and to build a federal democratic union based on the federal principles prescribed in the Federal Democratic Charter.<\/p>\n Respected Generation-Z and youths in the country,<\/strong><\/p>\n Youths are the powerful force of the freedom movement and the future of Myanmar. I would like to congratulate and praise your initiatives, innovations, determination and sacrifices for the revolution. I also respect your determination for justice, freedom and equality and efforts in writing a new chapter in our history. I firmly believe that since the Spring revolution is a revolution initiated by Generation-Z, young people have to fight until the end and also take leadership in building peace and stability for the future Union of Myanmar.<\/p>\n Respected patriot military personnel,<\/strong><\/p>\n Those who joined the army out of the love for country and to protect our state are the children or brothers or sisters of the people. However, the military has become a terrorist organization because of some power-hungry people. Therefore, the time has arrived to save and protect our country from terrorist generals. Therefore, soldiers \u2026<\/p>\n Respected friends from the international community,<\/strong><\/p>\n On behalf of the National Unity Government of the Republic of Union of Myanmar, I wish a happy new year to you all. I pray that may you receive a healthy, peaceful and safe new year.<\/p>\n As you have seen and heard, following the attempted coup on February 1, the Myanmar military have been cruelly killing people: they brutally kill peaceful protesters on urban streets; they raid houses and arbitrary arrest people; they burn down villages; and they commit mass-killings of villagers. The massacre of 11 people by burning them alive, including 6 children and 5 adults in Dungtaw village, Sagaing Region in December, the two incidents of gang-raping the two young mothers at their husband\u2019s watch at gunpoint in Chin State in November and Christmas Eve Massacre in Karenni State are examThe National Unity Government is committed to exercising international laws and abiding by human rights to protect people from the junta\u2019s brutal acts of terror.<\/p>\n Therefore, the National Unity Government has made a firm commitment to uphold and apply international law and human rights principles in order to protect the people from the brutal hands of the tyrannical military junta.<\/p>\n Therefore, I would like to urge the international community to:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n The National Unity Government is committed to building a country with rule of law that practices a free market economic system, an inclusive federal democratic country, a country that has friendly economic and political relations with all neighbours and the international community.<\/p>\n Therefore, all the ethnic nationalities of Myanmar and our friends from the international community, let us work together to bring down the military dictatorship and create a peaceful and prosperous society in the country.<\/p>\n Although the SAC is extremely cruel, we can see that they have been unable to suppress the people\u2019s love for truth, hunger for justice, and determination for freedom. It is impossible for the junta to hold 54 million as hostages. The military only has brutality, not legitimacy.<\/p>\n That is why the National Unity Government is coordinating with the EAOs and People\u2019s Defense Force for \u201cDefensive War\" against the junta to defend the people. The NUG has released the military code of conducts and is supervising the PDFs to abide by it.<\/p>\n By coordinating with the international community, the NUG is currently working to bring the dictatorial criminals to justice at international courts, such as the ICC or in countries where universal jurisdiction is practiced.<\/p>\n Everyone,<\/strong><\/p>\n - may you all be free from all crises of war and natural disasters, and enjoy freedom and happiness.<\/p>\n - I pray that you may receive and enjoy a peaceful, prosperous and fair political system in the new year.<\/p>\n\n
